Conservation of biodiversity is not possible sans support and involvement of the local community. The communities which live in the fringe areas of protected areas depend heavily on natural resources for their livelihood. To address this issue, Aaranyak began the Conservation and Livelihood Division to explore diversified livelihood means to improve the economic condition of the local communities so that the people become less dependant on biodiversity resources to earn their livelihood. The focus is on integrating research and community-based activities into a coherent division that generates knowledge and fosters innovation at local and regional levels to facilitate sustainable development in terms of biodiversity conservation.
Eastern Routes is donating a percentage of its income from tours to support Aaranyak‘s Conservation and Livelihood Division in Kaziranga National Park fringe areas. We welcome our guests to come view the benefits of this donation and interact with the locals (beneficiaries) during their visit.

TOFTigers is a collective campaign and global alliance – with all those involved in saving nature – governments, communities and visitors – to ensure we help sustain wild landscape. The pressure to preserve the Indian subcontinent’s tigers, wild-lands and wildlife is inevitably lost in the priority for people to survive. TOFTigers believes that developing more sustainable enterprises and providing viable long term solutions – that create real economic benefit – are critical to rural communities, especially those living in and around parks, sanctuaries and wildernesses across South Asia.
